Nortel Builds Wireless Network in Shunde

DVBCN, 11/0207

The Guangdong city of Shunde is to construct an urban wireless network using Nortel equipment. The two parties agreed on construction of the network in Canada on September 19, the first part of a Digital Shunde program. The scheme will use Nortel's most advanced wireless mesh networking technology and products. The Shunde municipal government will purchase a hardware platform from Guangdong Nortel, which will then provide software and technical support and continue to develop new network functionality. The network will first be installed in the city government's conference center, International Exhibition Center and transport hubs, and will provide wireless data, telephony and high-definition video services.
