Wuhan Telecom Offers Desktop News to Broadband Subs

PConline, 11/02/07

Beijing Capital Online subsidiary Coopen has signed a deal to cooperate with Wuhan Telecom and Wuhan Morning Post. Coopen will use its PC desktop platform to provide news and information to Wuhan Telecom users, and supply technical support for the service. The content will be provided by the Wuhan Morning Post. The service will be accessible to users as soon as they turn on their computer, with no need to open a browser.

According to Beijing Capital Online chairman Huang Mingsheng, Coopen has acquired almost ten million users throughout China in one year of operation. During one month of trial operation in Wuhan, 30,000 people started using the service. That number is expected to reach 300,000 after six months of full operation.
