China Telecom Launches Digital Music Service

China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) announced November 8 that it is launching a digital music service, I Music ("Ai Yinyue"), in cooperation with Warner Music, EMI, Universal, Sony BMG, Rolling Stone Records, Hurray, Taihe Rye and Music Nation.

Initial services include sampling, downloading and gifting of ring tones and music news. I Music also allows purchase and gifting of color ringback tones (CRBT) and songs for users of China Telecom's CRBT service - i.e. China Telecom Internet users and PHS or fixed-line subscribers.

The service is currently available in Anhui, Chongqing, Fujian, Guangdong, Gansu, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hubei, Hunan, Hainan, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Ningxia, Qinghai, Sichuan, Shanghai, Shaanxi, Xinjiang, Xizang, Yunnan and Zhejiang.
