Baidu Launches Financial News Business

Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) has officially launched services providing financial news and information. These will combine original information and automated tools covering eight categories, including funds, shares and finance management. This is the first service of its type to be unveiled since Baidu was awarded a news license.

The services can be accessed via Internet addresses such as stock.baidu.com, fund.baidu.com and money.baidu.com. A Baidu spokesperson indicated that a finance.baidu.com address will soon come online, which will feature manually edited financial news services to meet the needs of users with different interests.

Baidu's own figures show up to 100 million searches on financial terms in 2007, a major factor in the firm's decision to launch the new financial news services.
