HTC Google Phone Unveiled

Sohu IT, 12/04/07

According to reports in the Taiwanese and Hong Kong media, Google is displaying HTC's (2498.TW) first prototype phone to use Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android OS, the Dream, to other members of its Open Handset Alliance. The 5*3 inch touch screen phone allows use of Gmail, Google Search and YouTube, but does not have GPS functionality. HTC is currently examining the feasibility of mass-production of the Dream, and the device may be used as the basis for consumer and corporate versions.

HTC may issue 2G, 3G and CDMA versions of the phone. If 3G and CDMA-enabled Dreams are released, they will use Qualcomm solutions.
