China's IPTV Users Increase to 1.14 mln

On December 5th China Netmedia's 2007 IPTV annual report showed that by the end of November 2007, IPTV subscribers had increased to 1.142 mln, a rise of nearly 110%, and that revenue reached approximately RMB 400 mln. IPTV users are currently concentrated in the four provinces of Shanghai, Henan, Zhejiang, and Heilongjiang. Another 17 provinces, including Jiangsu, Hubei, and Guangdong are also making preparations for the entry of IPTV business and are to become the new engines for IPTV growth in 2008. However, IPTV's lack of content competitiveness will impact the industry's future development.
