Hong Kong, Macau Permitted to JV for Mainland IP VPN

The Ministry of Information Industry (MII) announced today that from January 1, 2008 service providers from Hong Kong and Macau will be allowed to create JVs with mainland companies to provide VPN services, with no restriction on location. Ownership in the JVs however, is not allowed to exceed 50%. Approval for the JVs will be handled by local governments.
