Digital TV casual gaming firm Hangzhou Viewline Tech announced December 13 it has won a USD 10 mln first round of funding.
Viewline held talks with SAIF, IDG and Merrill Lynch, but given the special nature of the digital TV sector, opted to take investment from domestic firm Hightech Venture Capital. Zhu Ge, director of Perfect World, and Song Ke, founder of Taihe Rye Music, will become independent directors of Viewline.
LENS: Founded in March 2007, Viewline develops casual games, such as card games, mahjong, and chess, for DTV, IPTV and PC platforms. The company recently allied with ZTE, launching its games in Belarus and Vietnam (see "Viewline, ZTE Cooperate on Overseas DTV VAS Market," Marbridge Daily, 11/30/07 issue).
