CCSA to Set Mobile Domain Directory Standard

CCID, 1/17/08

After a lengthy 2-year process of evaluation and revision, the China Communications Standards Association (CCSA) has handed over its mobile domain-name directory standard for approval by relevant departments. The standard will use 12114 as a unified, exclusive service code, and have a standardized registration database. Mobile application service providers will have the opportunity to import their own information into the unified database.

Currently there are around 10 providers in the mobile messaging domain-name directory field, and each provider uses its own service code and database. The technology and functionality used by each provider is quite similar, and currently MobiNIC's SMS addresses have a 50% market share.
