Unicom Signals Openness to iPhone Revenue-Sharing

Sohu IT, 1/23/08

Yu Yingtao, Head of China Unicom's (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) handset management center and its procurement subsidiary Unicom Huasheng, has declined to comment on reports that China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) has refused Apple's demands for a 20% to 30% share of iPhone income, but said that changes are inevitable as mobile manufacturers evolve into Internet firms.

Industry analysts believe that Unicom has decided to work with Apple in order to obtain the iPhone.
