Unicom to Purchase 12 mln CDMA Handsets in 2008

At yesterday's 2007 CDMA Industry Meeting, China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) announced that it plans to purchase at least 12 mln CDMA handsets in 2008, and possibly as many as 15 mln.
Unicom's nine major CDMA handset providers, including Samsung, Yulong and LG, accounted for 98% of the domestic CDMA market last year.
In 2007 Unicom sold 9.63 mln CDMA phones.
