China Mobile, Vodafone, Verizon to Jointly Test LTE

Sina Tech, 2/14/08

China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) has announced at the 3GSM Congress in Barcelona that it is to work with the UK's Vodafone and US operator Verizon Wireless on testing of Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology. The tests will focus on LTE-FDD and TD-LTE, with the latter being the post-3G evolution of China's TD-SCDMA standard.

In January Datang and Ericsson formed an LTE research center. ZTE and Alcatel-Lucent are also working on TD-LTE via their Chinese subsidiary Alcatel Shanghai-Bell (ASB).
