China Mobile Establishes TD-SCDMA Outlets

China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) is setting up TD-SCDMA outlets in cities which will have commercial TD-SCDMA networks, in preparation for actual commercial launch.

Outlets in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen are already in place.

There are currently two TD-SCDMA outlets in Shanghai, with one employee at the People's Road store saying actual operation will start around March. The outlets will focus primarily on demonstration of TD-SCDMA handsets and services, but will also make some sales. TD-SCDMA handsets and information on services are already in place, along with service counters and automated service machines.
