Beijing Internet Cafes to Launch Real-name System in 2008

The eight major focal points for Beijing's attempt to crack down on pornography and illegal materials were revealed at a workgroup meeting, and will include the installation and utilization of a citywide internet cafe management system to institute real-name registration in all of the city's internet cafes. The campaign will also continue to crack down on online pornography and other undesirable material, strengthen network data monitoring, order the deletion of all harmful links and material from domestic sites, "sweep away" pornography and "cultural trash," and eliminate the installation of illegal satellite receivers in order to regularize the broadcast market.
