Rumor: TD-MBMS to Be Released in March

A marketing manager from one TD-SCDMA chipset manufacturer has indicated that the TD-MBMS standard, TD-HSUPA and TD-HSPA+ are to be discussed at the 19th meeting of the Wireless Communications Technology Committee's 9th Working Group (TD-SCDMA and WCDMA). According to the China Communications Standards Association (CCSA)'s website, the meeting is to be held at the end of this month.

Meanwhile, proposals for TD-SCDMA positioning and mobile television standards have been posted on the CCSA website. The source indicated this is to make preparations for large-scale commercial use of TD-SCDMA, with hopes that the standards will be in use in time for the Beijing Olympics. The TD-SCDMA mobile television standard may be released in March or April, while the TD-HSUPA standard may be fixed in June or thereabouts. TD-HSPA+ is currently under discussion.
