Rumor: Qihoo Lands USD 10 mln VC Funding

Industry sources say that Qihoo has received USD 10 mln in venture capital funding from several investors to aid in the development of its core services, including internet security and search.

On March 6, Qihoo's anti-malware tool, 360 Safe Guard, went online at the new domain name www.360.cn. A spokesperson for the product said that the move represented the complete transformation of the product into a platform. Industry insiders believe that the move lays the preliminary groundwork for a fuller entry into online security, and that following investment, Qihoo may spin the product off into its own security software company with 360 Safe Guard at its core.
