China Mobile Completes Game Platform Trials

China Business, 3/09/08

According to an informed source, commercial trials of China Mobile's (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) new operations platform have been completed, with its new games platforms now being promoted on its Monternet portal. New features include the use of recharge cards for in-game credit, similar to the method used for PC gaming. China Mobile has also made several mobile gaming products available as demonstrations, a requirement for wireless value-added service providers wishing to feature games on the platform.

Kong.net vice president Wu Linguang explained that his company's mobile game Tianjie performed well in tests on the new platform.

To run on the platform, games must display a China Mobile-designated logo at launch, with menus including a 'more games' option that leads to a China Mobile WAP link. This is designed to keep gamers on China Mobile's network, rather than visiting sites other than the Monternet.
