Under the State Council Reorganization Plan revealed today, the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) will merge with the Commission of Science Technology and Industry for National Defense (COSTIND), the State Council Informatization Office, and the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration, to form the new Ministry of Industry and Information.
Inspur CEO Sun Peishu announced that his company is planning to enter the semiconductor manufacturing industry, saying that the company has filed with the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), and hopes to enter the market with equal backing from state government, provincial government, and private companies.
