Netcom EPON Equipment Bidding Results Unveiled

The results of China Netcom's (NYSE: CN; 0906.HK) first round of EPON equipment bidding were revealed recently, with approximately 3600 pieces of OLT equipment and 89,000 remote terminal lines being provided by Huawei, FiberHome, ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ), GW Technologies, and Raisecom. Of these, the first three companies acquired a total of 85% of the bid. After the conclusion of the bidding, China Netcom will move full-force into FTTx construction; however, plans for the next stage of bidding have not yet been announced.
