The Beijing News, 3/11/08

Inspur CEO Sun Peishu announced that his company is planning to enter the semiconductor manufacturing industry, saying that the company has filed with the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), and hopes to enter the market with equal backing from state government, provincial government, and private companies.

A source inside Inspur revealed that if Inspur does enter the semiconductor industry this year, it expects a total of more than RMB 10 bln in investment. The company would "focus on manufacturing 12-inch semiconductor products," said the source. "Competitors would be manufacturers from Japan, Korea, mainland China, and Taiwan."
