MII Publishes Handset Peripheral Interface Standard

Xinhuanet, 3/15/08

A Ministry of Information Industry (MII) official has said that the Digital Mobile Handset Peripheral Interface Data Exchange industry standard went into effect on March 12. This will standardize the format and method of transferring data such as contact information between mobile phones.

Phones which allow the exchange of contact information will be entitled to feature a green UDX (Universal Data eXchange) logo, while a yellow UDX logo means the phone allows the transferring of contact information to and from computers.

Statistics show that 100 mln phones are replaced in China every year, leaving users with the problem of transferring and backing up their contact information.
