Coral QQ Developer Sentenced to Prison

Shenzhen Nanshan People's Court has delivered its verdict in the Coral QQ copyright infringement case, finding defendant Chen Shoufu guilty, sentencing him to three years imprisonment, ordering him to give up the RMB 1.17 mln obtained through illegal earnings and fining him a further RMB 1.2 mln.
The court did not support Chen's lawyer's claim that Tencent (0700.HK) provided Coral QQ downloads on its own website, invited Chen to official launches, and solicited his opinions on third-party development access, nor did it make any comment on his defence.
Chen's lawyer indicated he is to appeal.
