Beijing Mobile Recalls TD-SCDMA Numbers

Beijing Times, 3/25/08

An anonymous mobile number reseller executive has revealed that Beijing Mobile issued resellers with TD-SCDMA numbers last week - only to recall them almost immediately. Several thousand of the 157-prefix numbers were issued to each firm.

An executive with one leading Beijing reseller said this was due to a scarcity of TD-SCDMA handsets, tariffs for the standard not yet being set, and the lack of publicity to date. He predicted the numbers will be returned to resellers and put on sale within a month.
