ZTE Purchases Reduced-Size TD-SCDMA Antennae

China Business News, 3/25/08

ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ) has announced a procurement framework agreement for 2008 between its subsidiary ZTE Kangxun and Mobi Antenna Technologies. ZTE will purchase up to RMB 500 mln worth of antenna products from Mobi Antenna - a company closely linked to ZTE and in which ZTE executives hold a controlling stake.

Mobi Antenna's technology allows TD-SCDMA intelligent antennae to be reduced in size, cutting width of a standard unit from 650mm to 310mm and halving weight from 20kg to 10kg.

A Mobi-Antenna TD-SCDMA projects official pointed out that the size of traditional TD-SCMDA antennae presented difficulties and reducing this will help the large-scale commercial use of the standard.
