Symbian Initiates Large-Scale Staffing Plan

Sina Tech, 3/27/08

Symbian, the world's largest provider of mobile phone operating systems, has announced it is soon to launch a major recruitment program in China. The firm expects to employ 160 engineers by the end of 2008, and between 250 and 300 by 2009. The company will recruit C++ experts in China's major cities, including Beijing, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Dalian.

Symbian China general manager Gong Dingguo said the company is also planning to expand its R&D center in China and completely migrate a segment of Symbian modular software platform architecture, development, testing, and other work to the center.

Symbian's China branch was founded two years ago. When it held its first press conference last year it employed only ten people.
