Tencent Sponsors 2010 World Expo

The Shanghai World Expo Organizing Committee and Tencent (0700.HK) have signed an agreement under which Tencent will become the exclusive Internet sponsor of the 2010 World Expo. Tencent will provide comprehensive internet services for the World Expo, including content and platform services for the official Expo website, and general operations and upkeep. The company will also create an interactive online platform, e-commerce platform, virtual communities, and development, operation, and promotion for other value-added services.

In return, Tencent will not only receive the right to use the World Expo logo and trademark, but will also become the sole internet partner for all World Expo sponsors whose websites will make use of the World Expo's registered trademark. According to Tencent, the company's sponsorship of the World Expo is the largest amount the company has ever invested.
