Rumor: New MII to Establish Three Telecom Agencies

Cctime.com, 4/14/08

Reliable reports say that under the government's new "large ministries to large agencies" management strategy, the Ministry of Industry and Information (MII) will establish a new Telecom Management Agency, Telecom Technology Agency, and an Information Network Security Agency in or around June of this year.

Reportedly, ever since reports began that the former MII would be merged with the newly established Ministry of Industry and Information, industry speculation has been that MII organizations at the provincial level would be merged into corresponding departments in provincial telecom oversight agencies - speculation that to a certain extent has affected the working process of regional agencies. The newer reports will at last provide some relief to worried local agencies - however, according to one source, although provincial telecom oversight agencies will not see any systemic changes in the near future, there may still be further changes made in future.
