Alibaba Enters Japan on Softbank's Dime

Alibaba (1688.HK) CEO David Wei has indicated that a deal has been reached with Softbank on investment in a Japanese Alibaba site. Softbank will hold a 65% stake in the new site, to Alibaba's 35%.

The Japanese market will be developed in three stages: assisting Chinese firms export to Japan; assisting Japanese SMEs to export to China and other global markets; and internal trade within Japan.
