CMMB Adds More Transmission Stations in Beijing

Sohu IT, 5/08/08

According to Yao Yonghui, head of the Information Institute at the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT)'s Academy of Broadcasting Planning, three more CMMB transmitters will be installed in Beijing in the middle of this month, in Tongzhou, Shangdi International Innovation Park, and at China Radio International (CRI). These will provide coverage of the west, north-west and Shijingshan areas of Beijing. A transmitter to cover the south of the city will be placed at Muxiyuan's Nanxi Plaza. The existing three transmitters - at Yayuncun, the CCTV Tower and the Jingguang Center - have been equipped with new exciters, with significant improvements in reception quality.

New standards on CMMB conditional access and terminals are soon to be released, with twenty technical standards and testing methods already submitted for consultation.
