Rumor: MII Submits Plan for Telecom Personnel Reshuffle

Rumors are circulating that the Ministry of Industry and Information (MII) has submitted its post-restructuring upper management plan for Chinese telecom companies. Current China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) president Wang Jianzhou will become China Mobile's chairman, with China Unicom's (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) Chang Xiaobing becoming China Mobile's president.

Wang Xiaochu will stay on as chairman of China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK), with former head of the MII's Telecommunications Administration Bureau, Su Jinsheng, becoming China Telecom's general manager.

China Netcom's (NYSE: CN; 0906.HK) Zhang Chunjiang will become China Unicom's chairman and Shang Bing will continue as president of China Unicom.

A spokesperson for the MII refused to confirm or deny the rumors.
