Spreadtrum Net Revenue Up 51%

Chinese mobile handset chip developer Spreadtrum Communications (Nasdaq: SPRD) has announced its unaudited financial results for Q1 2008, with net revenues reaching USD 39.5 mln, up 51% year-on-year but down 19% quarter-on-quarter.

Net income for the quarter came to USD 2.8 mln, up 37% YoY but down 73% QoQ.

Revenue for the quarter from baseband semiconductors was USD 35.5 mln, up 73% from Q1 2007 but down 21% from Q4 2007. 3G products accounted for 1% of the baseband shipments in the quarter.

Revenue from turnkey solutions was USD 4.0 mln, down 29% YoY, but up 11% QoQ.

The company estimates Q2 2008 revenues will range from USD 40 mln to USD 41 mln, a quarter-on-quarter increase of 2% to 4%.
