MII: Earthquake Damage Statistics

MII, 5/21/08

According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information (MII), up until May 21, the recent earthquake in Sichuan, south-west China had affected a total of 3,833 telecom exchanges in Sichuan, Gansu and Shaanxi, and a total of 25,735 base stations (including PHS). In addition it had damaged 24,496 km of optical cable, and toppled 117,112 telecom poles.
