Telecom Firms Donate to Relief Effort

China Business News, 5/22/08

As of May 21, the China's telecom industry has spent RMB 700 mln on earthquake relief. Firms across the industry have donated funds and materials, with Chinese telecom equipment provider ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ) providing almost RMB 100 mln worth of telecom equipment. Ericsson has donated equipment worth RMB 42 mln; Chinese telecom equipment manufacturer Huawei has donated equipment worth RMB 20 mln; Motorola has donated RMB 2 mln in cash and RMB 11 mln in equipment; while Nokia has donated a total of RMB 53 mln in cash and materials.
