According to Zhao Zhiguo, deputy director of the Ministry of Industry and Information (MII)'s Telecom Oversight Department, up through May 29, the earthquake in south-west China had affected a total of 3,897 telecom exchanges in Sichuan, Gansu and Shaanxi, and a total of 28,714 mobile and PHS base stations, damaged 28,765 km of optical cable, and toppled 142,078 telecom poles in that region.   Read More...
