CCTV DTV Channel Features Foreign Content

Xinhuanews, 6/27/08

Since May 1, popular American TV drama Ugly Betty has been shown on CCTV's premium DTV channel "Fengyun Theatre" every night at 7:30 PM. Normally foreign TV dramas are not allowed to broadcast during prime hours (7 PM-10 PM), but SARFT has given preferential treatment to premium DTV channels such as CCTV's "Fengyun Theatre".

The TV drama was part of the long-term cooperation between China DTV Production Co., Ltd (CDP) and Disney-ABC International Television, which will introduce the newest, highly rated TV dramas that may appeal to Chinese audiences. The cooperation follows previous cooperation between CCTV and National Geographic, HBO (Asia), and Real TV (British).
