Gome, Suning and Dazhong Halt Sales of Sanyo TVs

Shanghai Youth Daily, 7/05/08

As of last month, electronic appliance stores Gome (0493.HK), Sunning (002024.SZ) and Dazhong have all stopped selling Sanyo televisions. This makes Sanyo the first foreign manufacturer of flat-screen televisions to be pushed out of these stores. According to a former salesperson for Sanyo, the debacle has been caused by Sanyo's poor sales figures. The company has had difficulty bearing the cost of retailing its televisions through large consumer electronics chains.
