Apple, China Mobile Continue Revenue Share Debate

China Times, 7/05/08

China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) and Apple have confirmed that the two companies are still "exchanging views" on a strategic partnership, but that it was early to speak of any specific cooperation.

A source close to China Mobile predicted that Apple could abandon some of its claim to revenue sharing from talk time, and that the two companies might haggle further over revenue-sharing for value-added services.

Editor's Note: China Mobile president Wang Jianzhou had previously stated that Apple abandoned its revenue sharing requirements for the new 3G version of the iPhone in China. For more background on this topic, please see "Apple Abandons iPhone Revenue Share Requirement", MD 6/27/08 issue.
