China Mobile: TD-SCDMA Users Exceeds 52,000

Tencent Tech, 7/11/08

Xu Da, GM of China Mobile Communications Corporation (CMCC)'s Marketing Department, has revealed that, up to July 1, the total number of TD-SCDMA users has exceeded 52,000. The figure includes over 8,000 trial commercial users, with over 4,000 TD-SCDMA terminals sold through China Mobile's own outlets.

From the feedback collected form trial commercial users, problems in the first phase of commercial use include poor terminal performance, limited selection of terminals, high price, insufficient network coverage, and other issues. 52% of user complaints were directly related to terminals, such as failure to turn on, failure to search the network, and dropped signals.

Xu said that to solve these problems, China Mobile will cooperate with more terminal manufacturers, especially foreign vendors.
