Dayoo.com, 7/23/08

In 2007 the Tianhe district in Guangzhou, a development base for the Chinese online game and animation industry, generated more than RMB 4 bln in annual GDP, of which more than RMB 3 bln was created by the online game industry alone. This figure is essentially a third of all income earned through online gaming in China.

The base has a center for training software engineers, and is home to such companies as Netease (Nasdaq: NTES), Guangdong Alpha Animation and Culture, CDC Games, and Kingsoft (3888.HK).

From January to April 2008, the Tianhe Software Park earned RMB 7.4 bln in revenues for a year-on-year growth rate of 23%. In the first half of this year the entire district expects to produce RMB 69 bln in value for a 13% growth rate over last year.
