SMIC Posts USD 47 mln Loss

Semiconductor foundry Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp (SMIC) (NYSE: SMI, 0981.HK) has announced its unaudited financial results for Q2 2008, with net revenues reaching USD 342.9 mln, down 8.5% year-on-year and 5.4% quarter-on-quarter.
Net loss for the quarter came to USD 45.6 mln, compared to a net loss of USD 224.9 mln the previous quarter, and a net loss of USD 2.1 mln from the same period in 2007.
DRAM revenue as a proportion of total revenue fell to 3.6% in Q2 2008 from 12.1% in Q1
Non-DRAM revenue increased to USD 330.7 mln, up 3.8% QoQ 24% YoY.
The company estimates Q3 2008 revenues will increase 5% to 8%.
