Coca-Cola, Pioco Partner for Mobile Ad Campaign

PRNewswire, 8/06/08

Chinese Bluetooth advertiser and media operator Pioco will run a Bluetooth marketing campaign for soft-drink vendor Coca-Cola during the Olympic Games. Pioco has set up thousands of hotspots around Olympic venues, as well as hotels, restaurants and entertainment venues in Beijing and Shanghai. The hotspots will broadcast Coca-Cola video commercials to Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones. When they enter a hotspot, consumers will receive a message asking them if they wish to view the video.

Pioco CEO Steve Chao remarked that previous campaigns have seen conversion rates of close to 35%, and up to 65% at events where participants were encouraged to enable the Bluetooth devices.

Editor’s Note: More in-depth coverage of Pioco and other major players in China’s mobile advertising industry is available in Marbridge’s 2007 Chinese Mobile Advertising Report. For more details, please click here.
