China Mobile TD-SCDMA Trial Users Reach 104,000

China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) president Wang Jianzhou said at China Mobile's mid-year earnings report conference yesterday that China Mobile currently has 104,000 TD-SCDMA trial users, plus an additional 60,000 users from Olympic trials and 11,000 from commercial trials.

Vice President Li Yue said that China Mobile is currently in talks with equipment manufacturers, and could provide the second phase of TD-SCDMA trial services in late June 2009 at the earliest.

Wang also revealed that China Mobile had invested RMB 18.3 bln into TD-SCDMA and rural connectivity development, and with regards to the telecom industry restructuring, after absorbing China Tietong, China Mobile will assume RMB 40 bln in debts, of which RMB 8 bln will be paid off this year.
