Shanda Q2 2008 Profits Down 3% QoQ

Chinese online game developer and operator Shanda Interactive Entertainment (Nasdaq: SNDA) has announced its unaudited financial results for Q2 2008, with net revenues reaching RMB 837.6 mln (USD 122.1 mln), up 48.4% year-on-year and 7.4% quarter-on-quarter.

Net income for the quarter came to RMB 279.8 mln (USD 40.8 mln), down 33% YoY and 3% QoQ.

Revenues from massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) increased 47.0% year-on-year and 8.5% quarter-on-quarter to RMB 695.1 mln (USD 101.3 mln). Active paying accounts (APA) for MMORPGs increased 3.1% QoQ to 4.24 mln. Average monthly revenue per active paying account (ARPU) for MMORPGs increased 5.2% QoQ to RMB 54.7.

Revenues from casual games increased 52.1% YoY but decreased 7.8% QoQ to RMB 107.5 mln (USD 15.7 mln). APA for casual games decreased 14.1% QoQ to 1.65 mln. ARPU for casual games increased 7.4% QoQ to RMB 21.8.
