Shenzhen Court Hears Microsoft Piracy Case

Wcc Daily, 9/05/08

On September 4, eleven defendants in a group piracy case were tried in the Shenzhen Futian District People's Court. The group is accused of pirating Microsoft software including Windows XP, Office 2007 and other applications, and of shipping 70% of its pirated disks to the USA for as much as USD 750 mln in illegal profits.

The case was built by the FBI working in concert with local public security departments. Due to the number of suspects involved and the amount of evidence on display, a verdict was not reached on the same day.
