Kingsoft Bolsters IGA Efforts

Duowan, 1/07/09

Online game developer and operator Kingsoft (3888.HK) has confirmed it is trialing in-game advertising (IGA). In order to increase the amount of adverts carried and expand sources of income from online games, Kingsoft's MMORPG JX Online World has launched an in-game magazine, JX Online World Daily. The publication will be automatically delivered to Kingsoft's 300,000 gamers, and contains a number of advertising spots from which Kingsoft hopes to profit.

A Kingsoft insider confirmed that in September 2008 Kingsoft experimented with IGA in partnership with soft-drink manufacturer Wanglaoji, with a Wanglaoji iced tea item available in-game. However, this did not create any real income.
