Rumor: Google China to Lay Off Staff

An industry source has stated that Google China is preparing to lay off employees. Reportedly the company has already prepared a list of names and is waiting for Microsoft to announce its layoff plans first, in order to help divert media scrutiny. Software engineers are reportedly first in line for termination. Core businesses, such as search and advertising, are reportedly not at risk.
