MIIT: 2008 China Software Industry Revenues Reach 757 Bln

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released statistics showing China's domestic software industry recorded total revenue of approximately RMB 757.3 bln in 2008, up 29.8% year-on-year, with a growth rate 8.3 percentage points higher than last year. Software products continued to account for a large portion of total industry revenue, making up 41.8% of total revenue, or approximately RMB 316.6 bln, up 32% year-on-year.

Eastern areas of China accounted for 84.4% of the industry's total revenue last year, or over RMB 638.9 bln, a rise of 29.5% year-on-year. Western areas of the country recorded revenue of RMB 65.97 bln, a rise of 32.6% year-on-year.
