The "Education and Research Infrastructure IPv6 Technology Upgrade and Application Demonstration Project" will launch this month at 100 universities including Tsinghua and Peking University. The China Education and Research Network Information Center (CERNIC) is responsible for coordinating the project, and has invested a total of more than RMB 826 mln.
CERNIC solicited bids for equipment including core switches, rack-mounted switches, entry switches, and PC servers. Huawei, H3C, Digital China (0861.HK), Ruijie Networks, and Cisco participated in the bidding; results will be announced in April. Manufacturers have been participating in testing at CERNIC since earlier this month; they will submit bids at the end of February.
