China Telecom Denies Blackberry Rumor

Sohu IT, 3/10/09

China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) and Blackberry have both denied rumors that China Telecom would be bringing Blackberry to the Chinese market.

Previously, industry sources claimed that China Telecom had reached a basic agreement with Blackberry to promote Blackberry handsets and other products nationwide, with the possibility of bringing them to market in April. Some China Telecom provincial subsidiaries have already begun promoting a Blackberry plan at RMB 49/month.

Editor's Note: China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) currently cooperates with Research in Motion (RIM), the manufacturer of the Blackberry, to provide Blackberry services in China.
