Baidu, Shanxi Government Ally on Cultural Promotion

Chinese online search company Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) has announced a cultural brand development cooperation agreement with Shanxi province that will see Baidu create a designated column designed to promote development of Shanxi's cultural industries.

Baidu has recently intensified its focus on rural markets. Robin Li, CEO of Baidu, stated that company statistics show that advertising revenue originating from agricultural, farming and fishing industries grew by over 200% year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2008.
